Paula Corine Davis

Reflections of Life Paula Corine Davis was born on December 27, 1958 to John and Ruby Davis in Yonkers, New York. She was the second of six girls, loving known as “The Davis Girls.” Where you found one, you were certain to find another as they shared a strong bond. Paula accepted Christ at an early age at Saint Paul Church of God in Christ, where she worshipped with her family and later became a member of Community Baptist Church, both of Yonkers. Upon her relocation to Memphis, she became a member of Brown Missionary Baptist Church. Paula was a graduate of Gorton High School class of 1976. Soon after graduation, Paula entered the work force and found her niche in 1982, where she began her career of helping United States veterans as an employee of the Veterans Administration in Montrose, New York. She transferred to Memphis, TN in 2006 where she worked as a receptionist at the VA South Clinic. She was scheduled to retire on May 31, 2016 with over 30 years of service. Paula had an unconditional love for people. She was affectionately known as a “mother hen,” always offering words of kindness to others and giving out hugs and kisses to those she loved. She had a green thumb, growing plants and flowers throughout her home. She also loved to journal, possessing the most beautiful penmanship. She found joy in the simplest things and will be fondly remembered for her hearty laugh and pleasant smile. Paula gently slipped away in her sleep on May 25, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Ruby Davis. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: five sisters Michele Thomas and Jacqualine Davis (Memphis, TN), Christine Davis (White Plains, NY), Donna Davis (Yonkers, NY), and Kathleen Thomas (Newport News, VA); four nieces Janelle (Kontar) Macklin, Danielle Davis, Kendra Thomas, and Allyse Thomas; two nephews John (Amber) Thomas and Lenell Davis; seven great nieces and nephews Jarius, Kinidi, Gavin, Brooklyn, Khalil, John Jr. and Alivia; three aunts Alder Davis, Hattie Davis, and Gladys Lezeau; one uncle Ulysses Roberson; cousins Richard and Dorothea Roberson; God-sons Christopher Gwen, Ivan Iton, and Billy Hall; special friends Geneva Hunter, Rosie Hall, and Ramona Albea; and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
